ISSUE ONE - 20 November 2009

This news page is a replacement for the boring old list of updates. Here I will give new news about new finds and areas of the site that I intend developing or am working on. Anyone wishing to contribute any bits of Coles related news to this page are welcome to do so, simply e-mail you news or story to me for inclusion.

GREAT FINDand most unexpected.
One of the very first Hydraulic Cranes ever made, a mile stone in the story of Coles. It is a Neals 6 ton HyMax, the name HyMax is well known but to find two of these machines still working is amazing. Many thanks to their owner Mr Geoff Lee of Cookson & Zinn (PTL) Ltd for providing the photographs.

The most recent update had been the addition of a whole new raft of Husky's into the database, this section has been expanded and brought into line with the rest of the database.

The next database section to be looked at is tower cranes, Coles developed a series of units into tower versions, these varied from port crane loaders to container lifting cranes, as well as vertical semi-towers.
Along with the Husky is a new history page dealing with the transition from strut jib cranes to hydraulic. This deals with the design elements that were required to carry this out and shows the development Hydra, Husky and Speedcranes.

On the history front I have recently found a stash of data on the history of Neals of Grantham, this needs to be put into shape and made into a separate section, there is a lot of material as this was quite a large company long before Coles took it over. Still looking for photos of old Neals units.

Thanks to Mats Engström for the photo far right of and old Neals NMS 4 ton.

Well that it for this update still as you can see a lot to go at, if you wish to add some relevant news or memory of Coles use the link right to e-mail me or the contact link on the top of the page.
