Click any photo for detailed file. Mechanical Aids to Cargo Handling 1956 In 1956 Coles were producing many cranes for both the construction industry and for cargo handling. The following are examples taken from a booklet aimed directly at the market for cargo handling in ports and stockyards, under the banner of "Mechanical Aids to Cargo Handling". This was not the total range of cranes at this time as there is no mention of lorry mounted units. These were cranes under the general heading of Mobile Cranes. These were of two kinds, first were the lift and carry units, and the greater capacity, park and lift. The latter generally stabilising themselves with blocking jacks. At this period they were of the screw down type. These heavier lift units after working at a single place could then move under their own power to the next operating position. They were not however classed as road vehicles. |
