OTHER MAKES

Meny othe small model kit makers have made versions of Coles cranes alot of these are for model railways millitary model collectors. These are a few of the one that have crossed my path.

AEC Matador - EMA Cantilever - 5 ton

A kit model made from resin componants by Wynns Hart Smith Models. It is of the AEC six wheel drive Matador truck with the Coles EMA 5 ton crane mounted on the bed. The engine mounted sideways on the truck is the generator providing power for the crane. Thousands were made during the second world war.
Model will date from mid 1950s
Scale : 1-48

These types of kits are very flexable and any number
units can be made from differing kit parts.

Airfix Kit
The Coles EMA was designed for the RAF during World War II and here in the Airfield support kit from Airfix the EMA Mk 7 is repersented fixed to the back of the Thorneycroft Amazon. Designed for use with Airfix aircraft and diorama sets. Still on sale price £7.99 in 2010
Model Scale 1:76

Model railway enthuasts are well catered for here with a small plastic N gauge kit of a Hydra 20 ton (far left) and an OO gauge die cast model of the small Neals GM crane.

When looking for Coles cranes on the internet something rather unexpected popped up. This paper model of the Coles 1922 Tilling Stevens Truck crane. It seems to be a printed cut out kit, a rather odd choice for a printed kit. Unfortunately the website was in Polish so I have no further information about it.
Scale 1:32

Finally one of the oddities that occasionaly pops up on ebay, in this case a tin plate toy of the Coles 6 ton Argus, from the Deo company of Argentina - the crane must be known out there and probibly still working away in the ports and yards of South America.
Scale unknown
