One of the important steps in Coles development of crane as was the introduction of hydraulics into cranes. Although not developed by Coles this unit came with the acquisition of Taylors Cranes. This was the beginning of the Coles hydraulic crane line. I thought this crane might have been one of the models I could have bee ask to make. But subsequently to making this mode I found out Coles had done a makeover on this unit and that was then badged the Coles Speedcrane. Of the hydraulics that one would have been the model I would have made. (Image right)

A CAD drawing was produced by overlaying the drawing onto scaled photographs layered onto the drawing. I did not have any actual dimensions of the crane so made assumptions based on the first Speedcrane developed from this.
This is what I would term a provisional model, made of card, to give an impression of what a full model would look like. A finished works model would be made mainly of acrylic and be to the scale of 1 to 12 as are the other models on this page.

This model was based on photographs of a surviving and still working crane now in Wales and owned by Ian Curry who runs a small grit blasting and sandblasting business. His Website
