Tom and Clara
Tom Blacks's
Black tom
Dusty and hairy,
Used to hang round
Sam Whites Dairy,
Sam White
Bought dog
Called it Clara,
Big dog chase cat
Out of dairy,
Black tom
Not hurt
Don't like Clara,
Thinks life's not nice,
Now Sams bought her.
Cats think
Cats do,
Scheming and nasty,
How to rid the world
Of Clara's,
Midnight
Shed roof
Cat half sleeping,
Thinks up plan
To do in Clara,
Big dog
Not daft,
Trifle slow though,
Not as quick as
Tom Blacks Tom.
Tom sneaks
Slowly
Round the dustbins,
Makes no sound
While Clara sleeps,
Suddenly
Noisily
Tom screams loudly,
Frightens Clara
Who barks rapidly,
Tom runs
Sharply
Round the milk crates,
Clara sees him
Follows wildly,
Milk crates
Scattering
Bottles all shattering,
Dog runs riot
All round yard,
Clara
Treads on
Small glass splinter
Hearts front paw
And cries in pain.
Black Tom
Sits by
Sam Whites window,
Looks inside
At
Nice warm fire,
There on
Soft rug
Lays Old Clara,
Front paw bandaged
Milk in
Saucer,
Tom Blacks
Black Tom
Ain't not happy,
Now much more
He don't like Clara.
Tony
