The Land Where The Doobries Sing

As Terry and Feneela stepped onto the shore there was a large slurping sound from behind them. When they looked round they saw the barrels had drunk all the water from the lake, then suddenly the barrels were gone.

The Wise Old Doobrie gave couple off "Oooo Ooooo's" and the smaller Doobries started to busy themselves all around collecting magnolia blossom.

They put it into cardboard boxes then balanced the boxes on there heads. After each had gathered a box of magnolia blossom, they formed a line behind the Wise Old Doobrie.

"Are you ready." said Wise Old Doobrie to Terry and Feneela. "For the journey back home."

"We are more than ready" shouted Terry and Feneela together.

With the Wise Old Doobrie leading the way they all marched off. They went up hills and down dales, they went up ups. and down downs. They even went down ups and up downs, which was all very strange.

After they had been walking a very long time they stopped as they came towards a large wide gray desert. Here the magnolia blossom which had covered the ground all the way, suddenly stopped.

Ahead lay a flat gray plain dotted here and there with mushroom like plants.

"This is the land of coconut tarts" said the small Doobrie who had been just in front of Terry and Feneela. "You can see why we brought our own supplies." he said and offered Terry a magnolia leaf.

"I think I'd prefer a coconut tart." said Terry.

" They do not taste very nice ." said the Doobrie." Magnolia leaves are much nicer." he offered Terry another one.

After a short break for magnolia leaves they set out across the coconut tart desert. As they passed near one of the mushroom like plants Terry could see it was indeed a coconut tart growing on a long stalk, Terry grabbed a big peace and broke it off.

It looked good and Terry was hungry so he took a big bite.
With a cry of "Errrraaahh" Terry spat out the mouth full of tart. "They are horrible." Terry declared. "That is not how I remember coconut tart tasting."

"I told you they did not taste nice." said the little Doobrie." I think it has something to do with what they are growing on."

" What are they growing on." ask Terry looking down at the ground which seemed to be some kind of woolly substance.

"Odd socks." said the Doobrie." If you have ever wondered where the other sock goes when you can only find one of a pair, well it eventually finds its way here."

Terry looked around, as far as the eye could see in the gray desert stretched out in all directions, made up entirely of odd socks.
