Coles Speedcrane 7/9T Specification Sheet

GENERAL
Self-propelled, diesel-hydraulic, one man operated, fully slewing mobile crane on a specially designed welded steel chassis housing four hydraulically operated outriggers. with excellent travel performance up to 20 miles/h (32 km/h).

The crane has a welded steel revolving turret carrying the welded steel telescopic boom together with the hydraulically operated hoisting winch and derricking rams. The 360' slewing turret is mounted on a double row ball bearing slewing ring bolted to the top of the chassis. The derricking action of the boom is controlled by a pair of double acting hydraulic rams mounted at both ends on spherical self aligning bearings. A power takeoff cri the gearbox drives a hydraulic pump which powers the rains arid motors operating the hoist motion and the derrick. telescopic boom and Slew motions. Hydraulic oil under pressure is conveyed to and from the slewing superstructure via a rotary coupling mounted at the center of rotation.

The chassis is ruggedly constructed and incorporates a totally enclosed cab. The forward mounted cab arrangement permits excellent seating for the driver, giving the best possible visibility both for road travel and crane operation.

The crane employs power assisted rear wheel steering which is light and positive in action. Good weight distribution and optimum tire size ensure excellent performance on unmade ground.

Hydraulic overload valves protect the hydraulic pumps and crane mechanisms against exceeding maximum load figures. An outstanding feature is the telescopic boom actuated by a large diameter hydraulic ram. This feature is invaluable for precise position of loads, particularly in confined areas.

GENERAL DATA
Maximum Negotiable Gradient - 1 :4 (25%) unladen. 1:6(17%) laden 6 ton (6000 kg)

Turning Circle - 37' 0' (11.28m) kerb to kerb.
Fuel Tank Capacity- 20 Imperial gallons (91 litres).
Hydraulic Oil Tank Capacity - 33 Imperial gallons (150 Iitres).
Approximate Weight. 13.90 ton (74723 kg).

OPERATING SPEEDS
Hoisting - 7.00 tons (7100 kg) at 32 ft/rnin (9.75 m/min).
Derricking - main boom IN 14 seconds: main boom OUT 20 seconds with 1 ton (1016 kg.) load.
Slewing - 4 revs/min.
Boom Telescoping - IN 12 seconds. OUT 1 2 seconds.
Maximum Travel Speed - 20 miles/h (32 km/h).

CRANE DATA
Hydraulic Pump - gear type pump of 25 gallons / min (115.6 litre/min.) capacity per 1000 revs/mm. Driven by propeller shaft from gearbox power takeoff. Hydraulic Control Valve - four-bank type for control of hoist, derrick. slew and boom telescoping. A further four-bank type is provided for independent operation of the hydraulic outriggers. Operated by controls in the driver's cab.

Derricking Rams double acting twin rams with chrome plated piston rods and honed bores, mounted on spherical bearings.

Telescopic Boom Ram - double acting ram of 11' 0" (3.35m) stroke, housed within the boom.

Slew Motor - gear type motor, driving the slewing pinion through a worm reduction gearbox.

Hoist Motor - gear type motor, driving the 12'' (305mm) diameter grooved hoist drum through a worm reduction gearbox.

Slew Ring 'doable thrust bull bearing stewing ring with integral teeth meshing with the slew unit pinion.

Boom - fully telescoping, two-part boom 17' 0''(5.18m) to 28' 0" (8,53m) centers, fabricated from folded steel plates, with pivot points bushed for long life. The outer boom is fitted with self-aligning pads, faced with special wear-resistant fire bearings in which the inner boom slides. A compensating loop in the rope reeving ensures that the hook assembly remains at a constant distance from the boom head when operating the telescopic motion.

Safety Devices -hydraulic overload valves, sealed against unauthorized interference, automatically protect the pump and crane structure from damage. Positive lock valves are fitted to the hydraulic rams to prevent slip, even in the event of hose failure.

CHASSIS DATA
General - fabricated from heavy rolled steel sections and plates, housing four hydraulically operated power outriggers.

Engine - Ford 2713E diesel, developing 100 h.p. at 2500 revs/win,

Gearbox - synchromesh box providing five forward speeds and one reverse.

Clutch - heavy duty single plate type with lubricated thrust bearing.

Front (Driving) Axle - fully floating spiral-bevel type with hub reduction 14:22:1 ratio, mounted solidly to chassis frame.

Rear (Steering) Axle - forged steel 'I' section beam. Center pivot mounted to provide 8" (2O3mm) wheel oscillation. Hydraulic auto locks operate automatically when craning.

Brakes - air assisted hydraulic brakes acting on all wheels. A mechanically operated parking brake acts on the front wheels.
