Date - 1982 Power - Mains electric Wheel Base - None

Notes -
The Thames Barrier is the world's second largest movable flood barrier and is located downstream of central London. Its purpose is to prevent London from being flooded by exceptionally high tides and storm surges moving up from the sea. It only needs to be raised during high tide.
Work began at the barrier site in 1974 and construction, was largely complete by 1982.

Coles supplied seven cranes one for each of the working piers to aid maintenance and repair to the Thames Barrier.
The cranes chosen were the Adonis (Strut) 15 tons at 3 metre radius. As these were pedestal cranes at a fixed location and the units were electrically driven, the power supply came from the mains through the pier supply.
