Notes - the 8130 is 16.70m long 3.100m wide has 42.8m main boom 12.00m lattice extension and 30.00m of fixed fly jib and four axle steer. Thanks to Rangi Cornfoot who drives this machine. The Octag was the last heavy crane by Coles before it finally ceased trading in 1984. The octagonal shape of the boom coming into more popular use provided better horizontal stress loading than the square section. a design only possible by modern fabrication methods. Made in two options this the larger Octag 8130, 12 Wheel 130 Ton unit and the smaller ten wheel 70 Ton. Click on any picture for bigger image |
